CNN has the video (http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2007/09/24/reaysmith.uk.illegal.speed.record.itn) about the UK's fastest speeder - clocked at 172 mph in a new 911 turbo.

Smokey Nagata was arrested for doing 318 kmh (198 mph) in 1999 in the Top Secret Supra, I am such a ricer, I saw this video a long time ago, there was one in English that explained the whole thing, but I couldn't find it

Interesting that all the policeman's examples of 172 miles per hour were in metric.

That is supposedly the highest speed recorded on a speeding ticket in the world and has been mentioned a few times on Top Gear.
From Wikipedia:
The fastest speeding ticket in the world allegedly occurred in May 2003 in Texas. It was supposedly 242mph in a 75mph zone. The car was a Swedish-built Koenigsegg, which was involved in the San Francisco to Miami Gumball 3000 Rally.
If that was the original Koenigsegg CC, 242mph would only be 3mph off the manufacturer's claimed top speed for that car. :D
