So, I've been pondering what to do next year when it comes to cars and autoX stuff - take the Minivan(tm) to STS? Pick up something older to beat on? Trade in the EP3 and go a new direction?

Turns out door number 3 was the answer!

On the way to the meeting last night I cruised by the car lots over at Patrick Street, checking to see if they had anything interesting on their used lots. Sure enough, Bert-Wolfe had a MazdaSpeed3. I checked it out online - 2200 miles. Decided to go drive it this afternoon after watching WVU (finally) beat Marshall. I've driven several other new(er) cars in the past couple of months, none of which made me want to give up the Minivan(tm) for a trade. The MS3 hooked me from the get go - gobs of power, good handling out of the box. And in silver, it doesn't exactly stand out from the crowd.

263 stealth horsepower, FTW!

Gotta rub in the beating we at Marshall took? Hehe.. just kidding!

You will love that thing. My brother picked one up last year, silver as well, and we have been trying to run it since. It almost as fast as my Saabaru... heh..

Awesome car but make sure the motor mounts have been checked. I have read reports of the top mount bolt backing out and breaking off dropping the drivetrain but this was only on some of the first cars on the market.

Thanks, Jeremy, I'll look into that.

UPDATE: Turns out there was a recall on that issue in July, applying to all cars built before May - mine was built in March. Looks like a call to Lester's tomorrow morning.

Thanks again, Jeremy.

On a side note RX8 wheels fit this car and look freaking awesome.

Great pickup, Jon! I got to sit in one of these when shopping for my Mazdaspeed6 and I absolutely loved it... just didn't fit as well as I'd have liked. Fortunately for me, the MS6 was a perfect fit.

Sorry to have missed it at the Yeager event... Family obligations getting in the way of our autocross habit have turned out to be a huge conflict this year.

My MS6 has the same engine and I love it. Great find!
