What a great event! All I have to say that the competition was huge! Many, many very fast cars showed up for the Commonwealth Games... Miro ended up taking second place for the weekend, Phillip eneded up 4th and Nate Anthony (co-driving Phillips integra) finished 7th overall (due to hit cones on Saturday)... The alltrac took forst place in SM followed by Brandon Ross in a black Sti... he actually lives here in WV and will most likely attend some of our events. He is new to the sport and already very, very fast!
Again, a flawless superb event put on by the Blue Ridge Region!

Few of my favorite pictures: rest here: http://s190.photobucket.com/albums/z41/gtfour77/

You really did miss a good one. I loved the courses both days. I really wish I would have had my Celica. I had a great time, even if none of the pictures shows me smiling.

Nah
I'm fine with my Celica for STS now. We'll see if I get a 5th gen Si for an FSP car one day though.

btw: Out of 8 runs I hit 9 cones and had 2 DNF's. That's an average of 1 out of every 4 runs not finished. And an average of 3 second penalty per run. That Integra was nothing like the Celica. Phillip likes that car set up a little weird for me. The back end was so stiff it kept wanting to come around. When the Celica slides, it slides almost level all the way through. Different drivers like different things, that's for sure.

I guess you guys saw a certain Jinx Jordan and his car... Jinx has been autoxing long before the wheel was invented.

Great pics Martin! I'm looking forward to the videos.

Here's the in-car videos from sunday:

And I only got the in-car of Nate's 3rd run sunday. I think we took video of your first run, but it somehow was corrupt on my camera. I figured you won't be too upset about not having that one on video, haha

I drove pretty well saturday and would have been ~0.08sec behind miro but I hit a cone. Sunday I pretty much sucked, I just didn't drive aggressive enough and ended up a second behind miro.

Yeah, he's a great and funny guy. He was one of the instructors at the EVO school at Riverside last year.

Yep... sadly to get a fwd car to rotate you have to have to get it tail happy.

Poor Bimmer!

I dissagree. From what I've seen in fast fwd cars it's just good to be balanced. If you have to put in a big rear sway bar and stiffin the shocks to make the car not understeer, then that's fine. But I don't think you actually want in tail happy. I just watched a few STS Civics in national events, and they just seem to be balanced.

they look balanced because they never lift quickly.. a quick lift at higher speeds in a set up FWD autox car = spin ya know...LOL

basicly set the front for maximum grip and set the rear to your liking but quite loose is what most of the fast guys/gals like...

Why do most like it loose? That just seems like asking for trouble. I know you can't lift fast or brake at the wrong time or you will spin. Is it good to have a front end that drives and a rear that just drags? That seems the only reason for a loose rear end. I know in corner entry in a FWD, you want the rear to come out just slightly so that you can power through the turn, but usually only in tight turns. I've had no problem getting the back end around in what I feel is a mostly balanced car. I know that many have been at this longer than me and have a much better understanding of exactly how things work. Is it really a personal preference, or does it actually make you go faster? If it really does make you go faster, I need to learn how to drive with the front wheels more. I have a harder time than I would like to admit hanging on to a fwd when they start sliding.

Don't forget that the integra is not quite a "national level STS Civic." A well set up civic is loose but still very controllable, hitting the throttle brings it right back into line. On the other hand with the integra you can get out of a small slide, but if it starts penduluming you're done. I think the slightly softer suspension combined with the extra 700lbs of weight kills it there.

i rode in the black STS civic from Beaver run, i can't remember his name, (Marteen knows who i'm talking about) when i went to Cumberland last October and his car from riding in it felt like the rear didn't even touch the ground it rotated so fast it felt like E-brake turns.

His name is Chris Carlisle...excellent driver and setup on that civic...some of those STS guys up there really know what they're doing...:O
