BIG weekend coming up at Mid-Ohio. ALMS, World Challenge, IRL, and who knows what all else. July 20-22. I know JD's going up for the whole shebang. My youngest and I are going up for Saturday and Sunday. Anybody else going?

Here's an interesting addition to the ALMS GT2 entry list (http://www.americanlemans.com/Events/Acura%20Sports%20Car%20Challenge%20of%20Mid-Ohio/2007/Mid-Ohio%20Entry.pdf):
13
Dodge
Cindy Lux / Aloha, OR
Stan Wilson / Mount Juliet, TN
Woodhouse Performance Woodhouse Performance /
Mopar / Kicker / Dodge SRT /
Kumho
Dodge Viper
Interesting. The Cytosport AER/Lola (ex-Dyson car) is on the list in P1, too.

Y'all really missed a great weekend! Perfect weather, 6 races (ALMS, IRL, IMSA GT3 Cup, Indy Pros Series, and World Challenge TC & GT), and total access with a paddock pass. The ALMS folks had an autograph session Saturday. They were very good to Ryan, my 8 year old. Got Jorg Bergmeister and the rest of the Flying Lizard boys to autograph my P hat. We were in the paddock when the IRL drivers came in from the morning warmup. JD almost got run over by Chip Ganassi on his pit bike and I was within an arm's reach of Danika (sigh). Biggest crowd I've seen in 5 or 6 years of going to Mid Ohio. Can't wait to go back next year.

Dang it. I wish I would have seen this post earlier. I was up close to Mid-Ohio before this weekend. I've been wanting to go to an event there.

Picatures and some commentary over at the (newly redesigned) Ranch here (http://infinityranch.blogspot.com/2007/07/mid-ohio-track.html) and here (http://infinityranch.blogspot.com/2007/07/mid-ohio-cars.html).

I agree completely about the looks of the IRL cars. They had a Pro Series race as a support race at the USGP this year. You could walk up to the cars as they were being prepped and weighed and such, and they looked like absolute hell. They looked like they were DIY fiberglass parts that didn't match up, didn't have smooth surfaces, and didn't really even look finished.
The scales that they had were the drive-onto type. The wheel ramps that led up to the scales were the longest I've ever seen lol. Because the cars are so low, they have to be almost flat, so they have to stretch them out 40 feet just get them up to the height of the scales.

The IRL car I got the best look at - Marco Andretti's after Saturday practice - was well assembled and everything. It was just ugly. Lots of flat bodywork and 90 degree angles. The nose up in mid air looks awful. All IMHO, of course.
