Interesting July Fastrack Stuff

Move Mini Cooper S from GS to DS, move JCW version from BS down to DS
No more AC removal in STS
STS2 becomes STR (WTF? http://www.wizdforums.co.uk/images/smilies/shrug.gif) - this one's up for member comment

Why must they change the rules? No more a/c removal? That doesn't help out people who have done it that much. It's just going to be irritating to have to put it back on.

the discussion on SCCAForums indicated that (1) there are computer issues with 4-letter classes (5-letter for the ladies' variant) and (2) calling out "STS2 22" is too confusing the timing folks. All fine and dandy, but how does that get the switch to STR?

That's a good point. I guess it's R because that's close to S. It would sound like someone was studdering if they said STT. I like STA and STB. And I think the STU and STX classes should be changed to STC and STD. Or maybe depend on what class the car is in stock. But I know that cars that run in STS seem to be eligable for GS and HS. I think it would end up being too confusing in the end, so maybe the STR is the best solution.

EDIT: I just read my post agian. It would be funny to say, "I race STD."

the AC removal part in STS is dumb. Like nate said, its barely worth the trouble to begin with. I'd leave it alone....

STS2 being to confusing for computers could be fixed... they're just letters and numbers... as far as being difficult to say, they could implement saying the number two in another language such as spanish, which is fairly common knowledge dos, is two. again, I'd leave it alone...

Mini's are too popular of an autox car because they are underclassed in my opinion... they have certain advantages over many cars. If they're moving them up then it must be because there is raw time data suggesting that mini's belong in a faster class. Good move here.

what about cars that don't have ac from the factory? do they have an advantage now?

Yup - some folks on SCCAForums pointed out that the A/C thing may benefit the uber-Civics the most, as they're old enough to have come without A/C as an option. As if they needed the help.
