Im finishing up my motor swap and the people i got my ecu tuned by put a 2 step rev limiter on it. Its a p28 factory civic ecu thats been chiped. Is that legal in sm?

Just about everything is legal in SM as far as ECU mods if I remember correctly. Tuning guru Vic Sias is a former national champ. What engine did you swap in? Was an F20 in it before?

Any ECU in SM. I'm also curious to know what motor you're going with. A "B" series motor won't be enough to really pull that thing around, will it? It has to be an H22 or H23. But why would you use a Civic ECU? I'm stumped.

its a hybrid f22 block/h22 head. im using a civic ecu because you cant chip accord or prelude ecus. since im changing the fuel curve and everything it dosn't matter its from a civic.

The vtec head or the non-vtec? What else do you plan to do to keep the car competative?

vtec head. competative? in SM, umm awd conversion, a turbo the size of my head, and 285 tires lol.

i will put a turbo on it. will probably just put it at 250hp to keep gas price down some and keep the wear down.

You could make a N/A locally competitive FWD Accord SM car, just depends on how much you want to spend. An Accord is better balanced than a Civic, with the biggest draw back being brakes and brakes are open in SM.

it would cost way to much to even match the stock hp of an h22 with this motor NA. it favors boost with its low compression and long stroke.

iv never realy had a probablem with braking. All i have done is ss brake lines, grean stuff brake pads and brembo blanks. Tires slide before brakes fade.

Jared, it would be soo much fun to build your car for SM! I am currently using a 2-step and it's great. The only drawback is that you have to have it properly tuned for your specific application to take full advantage of it. It has to be setup for your tires and motor.(You don;t want it to bog with too low RPM launch and you don't want to spin for ever trying to take off too strong. (This will also depend on the conditions of the lot you are autocrossing on also... My car was taking off really well at the Pburg airport but this past Sunday at Verona I was spinning all four tires...should have lowered the 2 step by a couple of hundred RPM...oh well... Any way you can adjust yours?

the only way to adjust it is to burn another chip so its not something i could do on the fly. (wel i could if i had a laptop with me and one of those thing that alow you to change tunes without pulling a chip). Ill probably get a feel for where i need it and change it.

That would be helpful. Looking forward to seeing your 'cord in SM action! Sounds like you're doing a lot of new things to it. What turbo are you using?

not sure yet. something small that will not put me in lagg 9/10 of the course but will get me to the power range i want. Shouldnt be to hard since im not going that high, 8lb safe 12lb if tuned good
