I plan to lower my car and get it more setup for autocross and was wondering if anyone has had experience with H&R, mainly their cup kit suspensions. i am in no hurry to get it, bills come first, but this is the first thing i want to put on the focus so all feedback would be appreciated. thanks

H&Rs off the shelf stuff is highly under damped, my 2 cents would be to leave everything as is and get some seat time.

Or get the H&R springs and Konis separately. I had that setup on my CRX and it worked well.
But Sean's right - seat time is best thing you can get right now.

Put a cup kit on a GTI once and it was a little under damped for autocrossing, but was a pretty good dual purpose setup if you plan on driving the car on the street alot. Adjustable struts and a set of good springs is a better alternative though.

The guys are right about seat time. That said, when you are ready to start throwing some cash at the car, make sure you read the rules for the class you want to run in. There's' a good article in the current "Sports Car" about prepping for stock classes.

Adding on...
If you do get springs get shocks as well... otherwise you'll have the pogo stick effect. Shocks will be too soft for the springs.
Browse around the forums and see if you can get a set of used Konis, I am not sure if the ones for your car are the shocks or inserts.

I run H&R springs and I love them, they made a big difference in the handling of my car without being too harsh for daily driving.

I heard that the H&R race springs are similar to my neuspeed race springs with just a little less spring rate. i think neuspeed is 450/250. If that's the case i would also recommend putting them with yellows. Nice and stiff on the course but not so harsh that your back needs pushed back in place every time you go for a drive.

On the mustang I ran H&R race springs. The fronts were 850lbs and the rears were 430lbs. Liked them really well. Plans were to go with the H&R 500lb front coilovers and 425lb rear coilovers. I liked them eally well and gave the car a nice stance.
There tech line helped me out alot also.

When I was looking for springs, no one would give me spring rates for some reason. I tried e-mail, I tried calling...even Eibach wouldn't do it. Frustrating.
