Reconfiguring Indy

According to Speed (http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formulaone/35793/), the F1 race at Indy could run counterclockwise (backwards from now) by 2008 if IMS gets a MotoGP date. The fear is that the bikes couldn't handle Turn 13 (aka Dead Michelin's Corner). Why that requires running the F1 race backwards isn't immediately clear.

I just read that before I came here. Very strange, but it does make sense. It just seems like they'll carry even more speed into Turn 13, since they'll just be coming off the straight..? Also, I'm pretty sure that 2008 is the earliest it could happen, not the deadline.

According to a discussion thread on the Speed forum (no link - sorry), the plan apparently is to take the road course of the banking entirely.
