I know we've talked about this before, but I had no idea we were changing the start time again, so I figure I'll ask again. What about all of us who are busy from the time they show up until after the drivers' meeting? The course map would be helpful, but not the same as a formal course walk. I don't have 10 minutes to stop and walk around the course, especially if registration takes place even earlier and for less time. Those doing tech, timing, and such may not have time, either.

There will be time between registration closing and driver's meeting and first car off I would assume.
If people would register online none of this heartache would happen.

What's this about new start time?
I read Rich Mixture, the forums, what did I miss?

Troy, there will be time...we (organizers and chiefs) need to be there early to get things set up and to walk the course. (that will mean abou 7 am) Remember that technically the tech and registration chiefs are done working after the registration and tech ends.... So those people need to be able to find the time to walk and get the cars ready for the event... We'll finalize everything after the March event... don't worry, you WILL walk the course... ;)

It will be published in the Rm soon.... Registration and Tech ends at 9:30, Driver's meeting at 9:45am and First car off at 10... Remember, March event is still on the old schedule. We will explain everything in detail at the March driver's meeting.

Check the meeting mintues section of the forums, there's something in there. RM's been a little delayed this month 'cause there's nothing to put in it!

Is it too late to turn something in? I assumed it was and never bothered with the F1 report. I'll go ahead and write it up and wait for your response.

Nope. Since I couldn't get it out in time for Friday's meeting, I'll just hold it for another week.

I think this time change should be voted on by the members. It will make it hard for drivers from other areas such as Morgantown ,Parkersburg,Ashland and Huntington to plan on coming to our auto-xs without leaving at wee hours. We have always wanted others from other regions to come but I don't think I would come if I had to come down the night before or leave a 6 a.m. to drive in an event. This could be a bad deal for out of towners.

Good luck arguing the point. If you're not on the board, you are merely a spectator in the decision making process. Because I work until midnight, I can't attend meetings and can't stand getting up early in the first place, much less early enough to do registration at 8am at a venue 40 minutes away from my house.
I've already decided that I will go along with whatever our new board decides, as I don't have the time or energy to waste in trying to argue.

If Troy decides to go golfing, I think Sean just volunteered to do registration :-P

I've not missed an event, including coming out to the cancelled ones to help out, in 2 1/2 years. That's more than most can say. I come out and do my job, and I enjoy the driving and socializing. My point was only that the new board has come in and made their own decisions about how the region should be run, and that there's not much we can do about it.
JazzGTI was only trying to help the commuters, such as yourself, Sean. I think he's got a point, since not everyone has the option of staying with a friend in Charleston for the weekend.

Troy, You know we like you, that's why we pick on you...;) We're only moving it up one half hour to help get events started earlier...there is simply no reason to start at 11:30... Again, sorry you can't come to the meetings....that's just life. (we ALL have to remember we ALL have a life and job(s)...) ;)
Mike, there are almost 20 of us on the board and the autocross committe that agreed on this time change. This is meant to help the club, not hurt it...;)

I'm not really against it, I'm just trying to cover everything before it comes up. I originally brought it up because April refuses to leave the registration table until she's finished registration and counted the money, and it's burned her before. Just as expected, she threw a fit when I told her about the new start time, and I found myself being the one trying to argue the benefits of starting earlier. One of the problems I have with it is exactly as you said; we still don't start until 11:30, even though we changed the start time to 10:00am last year. The problem isn't the start time, it's just trying to enforce it. Do what you wish, I'll still be there (at EVERY event), but I'm just trying to look out for everyone's concerns.

I Like the Idea of the earlier start times. Even though I'm one of the ones that commute along ways, even I stay at martin's but not all the time, I plan on being regular this year so I can help you out Troy and April so you can walk the course

One may notice the start time has not changed much at all ... but registration and tech close sooner so we can actually start at 10 am... if anything the new schedule will allow more time for those doing registration to walk. Troy.. if there is ANY time you or April feel a time pinch trying to walk the course please please let me know.. you two are a great asset to the club and missing out on course walking because you both do such a great job at registration will not be tolerated!! also Troy please check your PMs as I am leaving a little message there for you...
