I'll get some pics up after this weekend. But you've seen it. I was driving it a few months ago. My dad got an EF CRX and gave me his 87.

Maybe STS2 depending on what head work you do.
Although, the Carbs might throw you back into SM2.
Is this the same car I saw that one day at Advance. If no nice find, they are getting hard to find without floorboard rust.

Yep the same one. The floor boards are fully intact. It has only 122k miles. I was a one owner car.

I would look over the rules for the class you would like to run the car in.....
SM2 will give you the world... motor swaps, cams, ect... suspension must keep original pickup points... otherwise have fun...
IF you wanted to move pickup points or use a non honda motor you would have to go to DM or EM
Street Prepared... allows unlimited intake changes (ie webers are ok) but most motor internals must stay stock... cam, rods, pistons,no major head work, ect. most any other bolt on is ok. outside of forced induction (unless originaly equiped) Suspension is quite open (read the rules!!)
ST type classes are similar to SP but no R tires and No Limited Slip Diffs... I do now know much else since I am not a big fan of the ST concept.... and yeah I have run STS...LOL
as always if you are building the car for fun... do what you want and let the classing fall where it falls... if you want to build a car for Autocross stop working on the car NOW.. research where you want to run... buy a rulebook (or look online) and build to the rules... just remember the SCCA rule Mantra... if it does not say you can.... you can't!!

Thanks for the input Jason. I just want to built the car to be a fun driver. Around 140-150 hp and 1600 lbs. Of course I want to autox it. I was just curious where the rules would put me.

Section 14.12, pertaining to STX. Other ST classes may differ.
5. Only standard (as defined in Section 12.4) limited slip differentials
(LSD) are allowed on AWD vehicles. For AWD vehicles that
did not come with any type of limited slip differential (including center differential or transfer case), a single aftermarket LSD may
be added. 2WD vehicles may use any LSD unit.

Yep! The 89 civic si's kill STS and the thought of an 89 civic with an LSD in STX is just sickening!

Update on project. Things have changed a bit due to budget. The sidedraft Webers are history. Instead, i've swapped to an Si head (but retained the DX cam), CDM intake manifold and a Weber 32/36 DGEV, along with a Hedman header. Will class still be SM2?
Oh Sean, pics will be posted soon. It's still on the jack stands right now.

Budget changed so you're going with an Si head instead of webbers? Did the budget go up? I was going to run bike carbs on my project car because of the affordability.

Budget went down. Instead of going with the dual sidedrafts, I went with the single Weber 32/36. I was planning on doing the head swap anyway. We'll see how she runs. All that's left now it install the oil pan and exhaust. Pics soon.

The car runs amazing. Much smoother and more power and torque compared to stock and still gets in the high 30's for gas mileage.

Ah, I want one. I think you could get away with STS2 with what you have there. I know it's not really legal for STS2, but it's carberated for crying out loud. Carbed cars should have different rules. There needs to be some flexability to the rules to make things competative.

Thanks guys, I plan on bringing it down soon to one of the events and see how it does. I can't expect much though, it's still underpowered and has the stock suspension. Alot of the bushings are dry rotted and cracked.
