There are numerous rumors being circulated in some pretty high-up places that there is going to be a rather large and complex race facility built in our neighborhood. (within an hour of any of our people) At this time , I am trying to put out feelers as to how many people in our region would be interested in supporting such a track. By support I mean becoming race stewards, corner workers, etc. This type of facility would require a substantial number of people to operate. There are going to be schools in the spring for some of these positions. Any interest? There are already other regions wanting to get involved. I hope our region will take the first step. I am not going to be on the BOD after Jan. , but hope this may help to get the ball rolling.Slowfart

I think the facility will be in Flatwoods or Parkersburg maybe? I really don't know but heard rumors also....as long as it's an asphalt track or a road course you can count me in!!! Give us more details if possible Joe...;)

If it goes to Parkersburg... I'm likely to have a heart attack. I just move away from there last year. Although, I think that'd be better than flatwoods. There's not much in Flatwoods.

This is supposed to be a multi-track facility with 3 oval asphalt tracks of various sizes, 3 road courses, a drag strip, a skid pad, and more. It isn't the one talked about before at Riverside.

I spent many summers as a track steward in Sweden...by far the most fun thing I've ever done.

If you are talking about Flatwoods, John Skidmoore was trying to get "Thunder Ridge Raceway" built there a few years ago but a few people bitched and whined and said it would be too noisy so they dropped it. They were too stupid to see that it would bring millions and millions of dollars to the area.

At this point , I am not at the freedom to say anything more about a track , but I am going to start looking for the particulars on the school.
