Anybody else happy that Oreca won? And what happened over the winter to give the BMWs such a huge advantage in GT? Any thoughts on Audi running the R15s at Sebring for the race while testing the R18 at Homestead and Sebring this week. And why was it not important enough to be on TV this year?

I am, but why no TV coverage?

Only place it was televised was espn3.com.

From what I remember the ALMS contract with Speed was up, and ESPN/ABC got in on it. Sucks because Speed was probably the only channel ever that would broadcast and 8/12/24 hour race. I'm lucky that espn3 is on xbox live, so I got to see just about all of the race. ABC does a 2 hour recap, but those tend to be lacking. I think you can watch the race live on the ALMS site, not great but better than nothing I guess.

I was really surprised by BMW also Brian, also by Flying Lizard's lack of keeping up. The new 458 race cars did farely well initially considering they only had the car for a week lol. It was a good race to watch for the most part, other than the loooooooooooooong caution/pitting stuff.

If you believe the ALMS powers that be, the new TV deal (races live on ESPN3.com, with recaps after the fact on ABC/ESPN) is the wave of the future. I wouldn't know, since the future doesn't come in very well at my house. :(

Yes, Oreca winning was pretty cool. The team owner was in tears at the finish.

Now that ESPN is involved I expect it won't be long before the ALMS Wheaties boxes come around.

Well, if you didn't catch it on TV, here are some pictures and video from along the pits:

Do attrition wins count? Just sayin'...

It's hard to get into race series that have bad TV coverage. You can't miss the NAsCAR coverage and F1 has great coverage if you have a DVR. I want to follow INDY Car, ALMS, Grand Am, etc.. But the coverage is always on differnt channels; if it's even aired. I can't get to know the teams and drivers because of the bad coverage.

[runs to set DVR for this weekends Austrialian Grand Prix; practice, qualifying and the race]

To finish first, you must first finish. That's doubly true in endurance racing.

And, FWIW, Indycar kicks off this weekend, too, at St. Pete (Sunday @ 12:30 on ABC).

The entire Sebring 12 hrs was covered on ESPN3, and has to have been some of the best race coverage I have ever seen. From flag to flag the race was covered, with only 2 commercials being shown every half hour. This is the best way to watch racing hands down. Live feed to the computer, then to the playstaion fed to the flat screen. No stupid commercials every 5-7 minutes, and no following just one battle on track. Announcers were great, and the shots from various places on track were spot on. They are suppose to carry the ALMS all season. I (and everyone else watching at Dan Cs house) had a great watch Saturday. Thanks Joe for the hook up. I don't want Speed to show it again in the future, because they could not cover it as well. I can't wait for LeMans Hr.

I've heard that ESPN3's coverage was really good. Unfortunately, as a DirectTV & Earthlink customer, I can't see for myself.

Tried to watch it some at my place on xbox in 1080 but thanks to Frontier it couldn't be streamed in fast enough and on my computer it looked horrible. Just imagine how easy it would've been if they just put it on ESPN or ESPN2. They weren't even covering the NCAA tourney so I don't see why they couldn't have. Wish I coulda made it up to Dan's, sounded like a grand time as usual.
