I filched this story (http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/1206speeder1206.html) from another fourm:
A Goodyear man clocked at a record 147 mph by speed cameras on Scottsdale's stretch of Loop 101 will spend seven days in jail and take aggressive-driving classes as part of a plea deal reached with city prosecutors.
* * *
Pargo was flashed May 21 in his rented Hyundai Sonata at speeds of 102 mph, 105 mph, 127 mph and 147 mph between Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard. As part of the deal, prosecutors tossed out the 105 and 127 mph speeds, allowing Pargo to plead guilty to 102 mph.
"But we didn't back off the top speed of 147 mph," Close said. "We encompassed that into the higher reckless-driving count so we could get jail time."
Questions had been raised over whether the Sonata could reach 147 mph. But a corporate Hyundai technician said a road test showed that the Sonata could reach that speed.
:shock:

We were cruising down the interstate one day, and a Hyundai gave us a nice ricer flyby, we accelerated up to 90 without even dropping gear, and he accelerated to 100+, we decided not to pursue it any further, but I did noticed "Hyundai Performance" on the back, and just thought: "Isnt that an oxymoron?"

Speaking of which:

"If you had a long stretch of level ground, and you could get the boiler hot enough. And I mean hotter than the depths of damnation itself, then yeah, I suppose you could get it up to 90."

I can't run with my studded winter tires on, it is like driving on marshmallows. as soon as the weather gets nice I will give it a shot.

What if it snows for Deep Freeze 07 in January? I may rent a snow-making machine from Snowshoe just to get you on course. :P

A certain Subaru wagon owner autoxed on 700 tread wear triple treads.
A certain Accord owner autoxed for a full year on 500 tread wear all seasons.
Bring you car down or we'll have to tow it and kidnap you for the autox.

A certain Minvan(tm) pilot ran the February event last year on his snow tires 'cause he was too lazy to put the regular street tires on. :yawn:
Still finished 2nd in class, too. :thumbs:
