Anyone know where to get a nice self propelled mower for a decent price locally... used/refurbished is ok. Also potentially looking for a riding mower (zero turn radius or whatever they are called preferred)

don't buy someone else's junk, movers are to cheap to buy used. Self propelled is a girl mower!!!!

but if you insist, try Pile Hardware, they seem to always have used stuff for sale and try to buy a 2 stroke version, they last forever and they are getting hard to find. no one makes new ones any more (damn EPA!)

Zero turn will cost you big bucks, if you find a used one, it is probly junk.

just my two cents.

happy shopping!

You got me...what can I say... ;)

We did go to Pile yesterday and they only had one used one for $365... They have refurbished mowers, 22" cut. self propelled at Sears for around $250. We'll be picking one up over lunch. Thanks for a good tip Chuck!

At least he isn't going to make you mow with that engine hoist.

Try the ad bulletin, and some local flea markets. I saw a decent walk behind mower on 7th ave in North Charleston at that flea market store across from Go Mart.

Well we picked up one at Sears over lunch... rear wheels drive. Was hoping for AWD with cusco rear diff (seems to work well in the celica) but RWD will suffice for now. :partay:

Spend the money and buy a good one - it'll last a long time. My Toro is 19 years old and still starts on the first pull every spring (although the self-propelled transmission went out a couple of years ago).

self propelled mowers that junk the tranies are hard has hell to push. I feel for ya, Scott.

If anyone runs across a good 2 stroke Lawnboy, you better grab it!

No worries - disconnected the drive belt and it all spins freely. I miss the assist, but not enough to buy a new mower (or to pay $200+ for the only replacement trans in the continental US).
