Popular Mechanics did a comparison. The Corvette had better performance numbers (acceleration, stopping, skid pad) had more horsepower, was lighter, cheaper, and got better fuel mileage.

So guess which one they declared the winner? BMW, because it was more comfortable to ride in.
That's why I don't subscribe anymore. I mean if comfort trumps everything else, then compare couches, not performance cars....

wow. It's more practical and thats why they picked it. Why didn't they compare the CTS-V then?

By Popular Mechanics you mean Car & Driver, right? They never met a BMW they didn't like.

good point,

compare apples to apples, migh tmake the mag more credible.

I have not ridden in a M3 (hint bill!!!), but from my exprience in a vette, the ride is not bad, the vette rides just as good as the wife's Honda Accord, and the road noise is not that much worse.

Let me think about this for a second. The Vette has better acceleration, brakes, skidpad, fuel economy and more power. The Bimmer is more comfortable (???). That's why I own a Corvette. Five to six hour trips are no issue in the Corvette. That's also the reason I don't subscribe to that rag. They go into tests with a built in bias.

Amen. Five to six hour runs in a Neon are no issue either, Heck, I do them the third sunday of every month in the Riverside HS parking lot!

Meh, it's just an opinion and nothing more. And a predictable one at that. When I go to buy a new car I only put stock into how I feel about the car, and not some COTY claim.

I've been in a C6 Z06 to and from Martinsburg (12 hours of driving in 33 hours or so) and actually found it quite comfortable. I don't see how that would be a reason to choose the M3 over the Corvette.

Car and Driver picked the Camaro over the Genesis Coupe due to the "gotta have it" factor. I don't think this was a slam dunk for the Genesis, but without the "gotta have it" factor it would have won. Blah, blah, blah... Pick what you want to drive.

Reminds me of a MS3 comparison I saw. If I remember correctly they compared a stock MS3 to a modified VW... Of course they prefered the modified VW which of course only won that particular comparison because it was... well.. modified. I'm thinking it was a VR6 but I'm not positive.

Who would cross-shop a 'Vette and an M3? Geez....

Exactly Scott!! I would choose the M3 over the Vette.. not because it is a better car but because it would suite my purposes better.... (I don't need a sports car I need a practical sedan or hatch with room for 4 that can tow a small trailer...I also happen to like German cars in general)

anyhow if I had that kind of cash for a car it would probably be an Audi S4...
