If you replace the suspension and catback exhaust on an A stock car, that bumps it to ASP, right? All of the following seem to be true (adjustable shocks, stiffer springs, catback exhaust):

Any shock absorbers may be used.
Springs must be of the same type as the original (coil, leaf, torsion bar, etc.) and except as noted herein, must use the original spring attachment points.
Ride height may only be altered by suspension adjustments, the use of spacing blocks, leaf spring shackles, torsion bar levers, or change or modification of springs or coil spring perches.
Exhaust manifolds and muffler systems are free, except that they must be quiet and terminate behind the driver.

Thanks.

Not really. There's no necessary relation between the classes are you run up through the prep levels. For instance, ASP is the "top" SP class, but AS is not the "top" Stock class. Specifically, look at the top end rally cars - the STi and Evo. They're both in AS, but in SP they go to BSP.

You'll have to check the classifications in the rule book to be sure where a particular car falls.

Great, thanks for the tip. Specifically, I'm wondering about a B7 RS 4 with the above mods. It's in A stock, and if I'm reading the Street Prepared rules correctly, it would now be on one of those classes (4.2 L displacement puts it above the Street Touring category?). It's not listed in Appendix A specifically, but taking your advice and looking at other A Stock cars (e.g., STi, Evo, E46 M3) I'm now guessing it would then end up in BSP. Does that sound right? Thanks!

IMHO BSP sounds like a good fit for that car...

the 07-08 RS4 is listed as an ESP car... you can find the full rule book under the solo section of scca.com

Well there it is. I had been looking at this 2009 rules pdf (http://scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules/2009_Solo_Rules.pdf), which lists the Audi 5000, 200, A8, and V8 in ESP. This pdf (http://cms.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules/2009_Street_Prepared_Category_by_Manufacturer.pdf) , on the SCCA Solo site referenced by Jason, does specifically list the car under ESP. Thanks again!
