My father-in-law's 454 Suburban finally gave up the ghost last weekend. Looks like a fairly comprehensive engine failure based on the oil everywhere. He's looking for options. Anybody know a good local mechanic who's good with tow vehicles?

Does he need it done immediately? If not Dad and I could probably work it in sometime next month. What year is it and is it 2 or 4wd? Call me if you want: 546-7448

2wd, '88, 80K miles, many of them pulling a 31' trailer. He's considering plugging in a Jasper engine. As far as I know, it's not time critical. I didn't know that you wrenched for hire, Boggy.

Yeah, I work on other peoples stuff depending on what it is and how soon it needs done. My schedule has been kinda hectic this year. Should be able to do it, if you're interested, between middle of september to middle of october. I'll check the price of a GM factory replacement for you as well. Should be a one day job, maybe two.

If you could check on an engine price, that would be great. A quick web search yielded a sh*t-load of options, and what I don't know about big block truck motors would fill a very large book.

Scott, PM me the VIN and build date for the truck(should be on the driver's door) and I can make sure to get the price for that specific engine.

I'll check - they've been travelling, so it might be a few days.
