Who Killed the Electric Car
92 Minutes, Documentary, USA,
Rated PG for brief mild language
Directed by Chris Paine

It was among the fastest, most efficient production cars ever built. It ran on electricity, produced no emissions and catapulted American technology to the forefront of the automotive industry. The lucky few who drove it never wanted to give it up. So why did General Motors crush its fleet of EV1 electric vehicles in the Arizona desert? Narrated by Martin Sheen, and featuring Phyllis Diller, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks and others,“Who Killed the Electric Car?” chronicles the life and mysterious death of the GM EV1, examining its cultural and economic ripple effects and how they reverberated through the halls of government and big business.

Uh, OK, sure - because when I think "electric car" I think "fast!"

And  on Water. The girlfriend and I Netflixed it last weekend. Very good.

Thanks for the heads up on Water. :D

The AC Propulsion CRX from the early ninties had a 120HP electric motor all of its power was available at idle from a dead stop. I seem to remember a 14-sec. 1/4 mile time slip from it's days testing in CA.

Electrics can be fast.. for a very short period of time...

ok but where does electricity come from most of the time... yup coal burning plants... so emissions fee is not the case.. oh and disposal of all those batteries (a problem hybrids will have in a few more years)...

I see low sulfer diesel as the most economic and viable solution we have today... good emissions, great milage (50 plus hwy easy), good to great performance (try driving a chiped TDI Golf!!... )... the Infastructure is in place so no huge investment that may or may not pay out!! remember how CNG was going to change the world... do you still see those pumps arround... nope?? yep someone got the shaft on that deal... my bet is it was the tax payers...LOL :?
