I wanted to let everyone know how things are going as we prepare for the Elkins Airport Autocross May 30th and 31st...

Port o pots have been reserved.

The Airport has been contacted and our date confirmed. The pilots club will be there selling food like last year.

I will be contacting the Hampton Inn at Elkins about block room rates so stay tuned on that one!!

We will have plenty of lime for marking the course and the trailer is ready (thanks Chuck)

We should have new registration forms and tech forms for the event thanks to our friends at the UPS Store in Kanawha City!!

Jack and crew will do the Saturday course and I will slightly modify it for Sunday and hope to have the Sunday course open to walk late Saturday.

Now I need to ask for some help.

We need one or two tech inspectors to tech the cars (we will have a drive through tech to make this an easier task)

We aslo need help with registration!!

and the big one.. We need EVERYONE to spread the word about the event!!

There will be a map of the areas in the May RM. I will also provide copies at the entrance to the event for those who do not get copies of the RM.

To add to the list,

I think we need two Safety Stewards.
Need I person at the entrance to direct people (pit area and Registration. This person wil hand out the airport map.

would be nice to 3 people at the registration table, 2 to register and 1 to sell shirts and stickers. (I think Cathy wil be one of the people) so we need two more.

we could use some help Friday afternoon for pre-set up.
I know at least myself, Jack and you are goin up Friday around 12 or 1.

Thanks,
Chuck

I will be at the registration table either helping register people or selling T-Shirts, or both......You know me, I am flexable. I have also spoken with Judd, and correct me if I am wrong, but he was doing the registration and bringing Carrie with him (if she can get off work that is) and she's offered to help....(Thanks Carrie!!)

UPDATE>>> Hampton Inn Elkins 80$ per night (plus taxes ect)

We have an SCCA Discounted Rate setup at the Hampton Inn in Elkins.... this is the closest hotel to the airport, and it is quite new so it should be nice!! When you book your room for the event just ask for the SCCA rate.

The number for the Hampton Inn is (304) 630-7500

Sounds good. We'll be there by 8:00 and try to help setup too. I went over what goes into tech inspect today, sounds simple, only question is if a car gets the tech sticker Sat is that still good for Sun?

Yes, unless the car has a mechanical failure or changes anything overnight. If either happens then the car gets reinspected.

Unfortunately, I'll be in Big Sky country and won't be able to make it to Elkins this time. So, I need to get together with someone this week to hand off the computer. I can have to two events set up before then. Jason (or whomever), just let me know.

I won't be able to bring out the minivan to contend for PAX again at my hometown autox.
I'll be moving up to DC that weekend for an internship.

Sean Halloran, Bill Gammon and I ganged up on Sunday and came up with a course design for Saturday. There are both technical and higer speed sections. Should be a real hoot. We can get two cars on course at a time, but it may take a couple of runs to figure out just when to start the second one. The idscrepancies in speeds for cars/driver experience that may make that a bit tougher - but we are pretty resourceful. there is a pretty high potential to run the same course backwards on Sunday with some minor tweaks. It would save a lot of set up time. I think all elements would work well both directions. I may want to make a couple of minor tweaks to what we came up with. Sorry I don't have the software to post a preview. I will have a map for the trailer side at the event. Bev and I will be in Indianapolis until the 27th. We will be going up on Friday (noon-ish) with Chuck and the trailer to start setup Friday evening, if possible.

Sounds great Jack!!! I was up in Elkins Tuesday and passed out flyers to local tire shops, parts stores, and the airport manager. I also plan to come up friday to help get everything setup and I will have the laptop in hand by the end of the day today.

Hopefully the bucket of bolts will be ready.

Then I can learn how to drive again.

Is the goal to hit every cone? I swear the last time I autocrossed the car to have in HS was a Yugo.

That sucks Robbie! For some of us this event is just not working out... work sucks sometime! There is a slight chance Tara and I might be there on Sunday but that will all depend on the legislature...
