For the first event turned out real nice, there probably were around only 10 cars and you were timed on 4 runs and I ran around 3 fun runs since there were very few cars. The course didn't have cones but the yellow "Police Line don't cross" type tape attached to little stakes made the layout, hitting the tape or stake was a 3sec penality. The layout was very fun you ran it fwd then backward which took anywhere from 2+ to 3+ minutes, for the first time for them doing it everyone was happy with the event never heard a complaint. For the next one they are working on getting a layout where it would be a little quicker, it wasn't too rough had a couple little dips that you would hit other than that nice turns and few good speedy spots. They took up money for donation to the Hundred Vol. Fire Dept for admission so you couldn't beat the price. There were a few people there that had been down there too Riverside with you guys and Gals, very highly recommended down there from them.

If it wasn't on the weekend when I am planning to change my clutch, I'd be tempted to go. Maybe I should try to get the clutch in before then.

I believe I'm going to make a serious attempt to make it. I can't go thru Dec. without an event. Who wants to come and play?
Roy, you should bring the Audi TQ out for that you'd be close to the event.

I'm wrenching as we speak. The q ship should be ready. I've got snow tires already mounted and waiting to go one once there's a hub to attach them to.

I'll talk to Larry about hosting some overnight guests and the like. He'll probably be codriving my car because his STi is too pretty to get dirty. Must be the pink decals increase the wussy factor.

Anybody have a copy of the video they can email me? It looks like the 304customs site got hit hard and the video has gone 404.

Cool! I don't have a copy of the vid, I wish I would've saved it.
I'll probably be driving up in the morning. I have to work the day before the race, It'll be a bit of a scramble to get ready Sat. evening.
I'll be away from the forum/computer until Monday. I keep in touch next week. :D

Larry just gave the thumbs up to hosting some down south people at his place in Clarksburg. There's only one bed besides his and a couple of couches. Afther that you're on the floor. If there are some takers I could spend the night at my apartment in Morgantown and caravan with Sean in the morning. Otherwise I'm calling dibs on the bed and staying at Larry's.

Man that sucks. I really wanted to see how much you'd put the smack down on people with the battlewagon. I know first hand that you know how to play in the loose stuff.

Larry's off the list for co-driving the quattro because he's got a couple of cracked ribs due to a slight mishap while doing home repair. In other words, there's some seat time available to the right person.

gtfour77

Roy, I might take a couple of runs in the Quattro if you don't mind...but I think we might battle it out with Sean in the little red wonder mobile aka Bling Red Rex... Right Sean??? :drive:

Yeh, me too. It's not a car thing entirely. Just a few things didn't happen and so this can't. Maybe next time. I REALLY wanted to give it a go.

Ok, looks like it's still on and going to be an ice race as much as a rallycross.

Who's in?

After checking the map I just realized that it's going to take a little while to get to the track from Fairmont. Hundred is about halfway between Fairmont and Moundsville. Nice road when you're intent on having some fun but if the conditions are bad or traffic heavy then it's slow going. I'm estimating that it will take an hour to complete the transit stage from 79 to the special stage in Hundred :)

erwendell

It actually only took 45 minutes and I spent most of it at normal speed due to traffic.

Cool pictures.

No helmets? Thats a wee bit scary.

I looked through their forums, seems to me they have a lot of misinformation about what rally, rally-x, hill climbs are.

I never got out of first gear. If I'd have managed to roll it it would have been one slow roll. Somehow I think the car would have held up. Besides which, I found that helmets and my Audi are incompatible. My helmet hits the sunroof frame even with the seat all the way down. The only thing I can see to do is get a helmet that's smaller externally. The Bell that I have is really really fat.

Pretty good compromise between an all weather tire and a snow tire. Not nearly as good as the Hakka 10 in the snow but it holds up a lot better in the dry.

If you think the photos are cool, check out the video http://www.trisrc.com/videos/Roy_120306_High.wmv

Someone outta mention to them that SCCA will be glad to help them get sanctioned. Pego Mack is the one in charge of the Rally-X program: pmack@scca.com

Why?

It takes one screw up for things to get ugly, heck we are an SCCA region and we got into a world of hurt after a certain Subaru incident.

My 2 cents...

My new clutch is installed and I plan to upgrade my suspension soon. I'd like to do one of these events before I increase my spring rates. When's the next one??? :drive:

I am not questioning your knowledge Sean as I know that you have been doing this way, way, way more than I have, just wanting to know how the SCCA would help in a situaton in case of a wreck and what would happen if someone actually hit a course worker?

Would it really do any good too have the SCCA sanction it if the SWVSCCA got in a world of hurt because of an incident? Just asking because if I remember right you have too sign a paper saying the SWVSCCA isn't responsible for you ( the driver )? Just wondering if the signature holds up in an incident?

Also I agree I knew better than to go without a helmet on the last runs, all it does take is one little mistake to get hurt.

I have attended a few of the Cumberland events and it isn't SCCA sanctioned and anyone that hits a airport light has too pay for it or damages their car they are responsible.

Cumberland has private insurance... As for SCCA... any SCCA member at an SCCA event has a HUGE insurance policy over a million dollars worth!! The waiver is to keep away bs law suits. It is cool that a group of people got together to make these rally cross events happen.. Just like any motorsports group they have to find their way. I would highly recomend making helmets manditory for all drivers... first gear or not...

Keep the events going!! make helmets manditory.. check for seat belt use... grow the events and look for insurance!! Check with NASA or perhaps Steel Cities SCCA... SWVR is alot further from Mo town than Steel Cities. but from the video I have seen I am not sure the area would pass SCCA muster... specificly how close the cars get to the "stage"... anyhow good luck to those involved!!!

Thanks for the info, for right now there is only around 9 to 10 cars that show up I am sure as it grows will have to do something about insurance. Here is the post that Whetzel put up we discussed the helmet issue last night. http://trisrc.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=110.

Just curious, did the SWVSCCA get in a lawsuit over something that happend? and if yes how was the turn out?

No lawsuit, and all turned out well.... I can give no more details as I was living in Atlanta and part of the ATL SCCA at the time....
