This is the coolest thing I've heard all week. Now we NEED a US Gran Prix. I'm excited! I wonder if they will compete this season? I doubt it.

USF1 team to reveal plans 24 February
13 February 2009

The brand-new Formula 1 team, that will go under the name 'USF1' will reveal its plans on Tuesday, 24 February. Behind the scenes Ken Anderson is currently setting up the new Formula One that which will be based in Charlotte, USA.

US TV reporter Peter Windsor is also involved in the Formula 1 project. "Ken Anderson and I have been looking at the possibility of designing and building an F1 car in the USA for the past four years," Windsor told SpeedTV. "So I guess the real surprise is that we were able to keep it quiet for so long. The news broke this week but the real announcement is going to be live on SPEED, potentially on Feb 24."

The team does realise it won't be easy raising the money in the current economic times. "Of course it's not easy raising money in the recession," Winsor said. "Having said that, the recession is all about adapting to changing times and re-setting the boundaries. That is what we are going to with USF1 - and that is what the FIA are doing with the F1 rules. We know that we're primarily in the entertainment business and so every aspect of USF1 will reflect that."

Given the current economy, the lack of a USGP, and the lack of interest of any US automaker in F1, I won't hold my breath waiting for them to make the grid.

If they do, it will be pretty cool, tho'.

It'll be interesting to see Peter's actions as he walks the grid. He already gets so excited that he leaves the poor camera man behind.

I'll believe it when it happens, but it does seem that there are at least plans in the works to start one...

If Bernie died tomorrow the world would be greater because of it. What a douchebag. BTW Windsor has the credentials to help start a team being a former manager for both Ferrari and Williams.
