I know there are some ex-Neon guys out there, so this should be easy.
Let's start with a stock 1998 Neon. Standard wheel was a 14x6, although a 15x6 could be ordered as a "trunk kit" option.
Starting in 2000, the standard Neon well became a 15x6 wheel.
If I was to run a 15x6 trunk kit wheel, would I still be in the stock class?
Or, if I was to run a 2000 model standard Neon 15x6 wheel, would I still be in the stock class?

I know the answer to the second question is "no" - there is no update/backdate in Stock. Not sure about the trunk kit Q, however. Is 14x6 what the ACR came with stock?

If the optional package wheels were available for the 98 ACR and recorded somewhere then you can run them. But, you'd have to run any other parts that were part of the package.

The whole "trunk kit" thing is from Showroom Stock road racing. Honda lobbied hard for one for the Civic when they were getting killed by Neons back in the mid '90's. SS is much more "stock" than stock class solo - no aftermarket shocks or sway bars, for instance. Why do you ask, Tim? Find a deal on some snowflakes?

I did run across some neon trunk package wheels for sale, but I wasn't going to bother if it kicked me into another class, because I don't have any (near term) plans to make any other modifications. I am not sure what all came in the Neon trunk package along with the wheels. I understood that trunk kit parts were okay in showroom stock back in the day, but in recent years the SCCA has gotten away from trunk kit stuff. However I couldn't find any information on whether Stock Solo allowed the trunk kit. And to answer an earlier question, nearly* all Neons (Highline, Sport, ACR, R/T, etc) thru 1999 came with 14x6 wheels standard, but you could order from the factory the 15x6 trunk kit wheels. The 15s were not installed on the assembly line, Dodge provided them to you at the dealer.
From 2000 onward, the 15" wheel became standard, except the R/T which got a 16" standard. Later the SRT4 had a 17" wheel.
*some 1994-95 low end Base and Highline models had 13 inch wheels.
P.S., in case you didn't notice the signature change. October 19 will be the debut of the red 98 ACR I bought from Priscilla Payne. Just now got around to working out the sale, she was kinda busy with some sad, sad events in her life. I will get some new spark plugs and a little tree this week, that should make it wicked fast. Of course with the same old driver and my "weekender" sacrificial bald Azenis 215s scavenged from the sport coupe, the ending will be the same.
P.S.S. The black 96 Neon sport coupe is on its way to Barrett-Jackson (Barrett Jackson is the nickname of the guy who does the for sale ads in the Gazette).
