What tires are allowed in G stock? If I were to put a set of Hoosier R6 tires on my stock rims on my stock car, what class would I be in?

You can wait until after you stop laughing to reply.

Tim, any DOT approved tire that you can squeeze on a "stock" rim is legal.
This is to say any "normal" street tire is legal along with any DOT RACE tire is legal. The Hoosier R6 and A6 and their predecessers(SP),Kumho V700,V710,V711s,Avon Tech R and RA,Toyo Ra1 and R888, Michelin Sport Cup,Yokohama A and AO series tires are all legal. (this only scratches the of DOT Race tires available)
Hope this helps.
And BTW, If you found a good deal on used R6s, get them. They will be far better than what you have.
If you are buying them brand new, skip the R6s and go straight to Kumho V710s.

Thanks for the info, the SCCA website said something about OEM equivalent tires, which I took to mean street legal with a minimum 140 wear rating. And you are right, they will be much better than the tires I have (which barely deserve to be hung from a rope for the neighborhood kids to swing on).

I picked up a set of used R6s that are still showing both grooves pretty well -and got a them for a good price. However, they are at my brother's house in Detroit, so I may not have them in hand until I see him at Christmas. I have wonderful visions of heat cycling the tires in the in my parents driveway on Christmas morning.....

You'll like the R6's Tim, they are not as fast as A6's but they are still very, very fast...(been running R6's on the front of my car for a few events now and you can feel the difference but it's still great for local autocrosses)

Thanks for the info Martin, but I got a feeling that me, in my car, won't be able to tell the difference between R6 and A6...yet.

If you have been wearing Nike you might notice the difference in Adidas, but when you have been wearing flip-flops, either Nike or Adidas will be heavenly!

Very well put Johny! I am going to try Miro's RE01's this coming Sunday at BRR but I am afraid they just won't cut it... Sean remembers how totally frustrated I was driving on Azenis last year at nats... ouch! That was the best and worst event all at the same time...worst time driving, best time watching...heh

A shaved Bridgestone has the SAME durometer reading as a V710.
