At least one, perhaps several, big fat Robins have taken to roosting (and scratching and - worst of all - pooping) on my newly acquired PT Cruiser daily driver, which is parked outside. (insert anti-Chrysler joke here) Short of shooting (my 12 guage Remington might be a little much), does anyone know of an effective, Robin-specific bird repellant? For now we're trying parking the car in front of the house, but the subdivision rules frown on that.

I'd try not washing it. They never seem to s**t on a dirty car, only clean ones.

When you see them outside, run outside screaming and yelling and waving your arms around. Other than that, I have no idea. :\

That sounds pretty effective, though.

mylar balloons tethered near the area where they hang out. it will freak them out... and you'll be the most festive house in the neighborhood.

They like bright shiny things (like a girl I suppose). Try a lawn ornament in your yard with shiny objects or mirrors. It should just distract them.

Parking out front cured the problem - I just can't leave it out there all the time 'cause it's in the neighbor's way. A quick online search revealed some commercial bird repellants that are really just sticky stuff - doesn't hurt them, they just (allegedly) don't like it. I tested that theory with some double sided carpet tape - no dice. That car and I will be in Chicago for 5 of the next 6 weeks, so hopefully the little b*stard will find someplace else to hang out.

Try throwing rubber snake on the top when you park it. You could probable find one cheap at the dollar store.
