I just completed my WV State Taxes and was surprised to learn that we must now report any out of state purchases so we can pay WV sales tax on those items. This includes food! So forget about the savings on sales tax by buying out of state. Did everyone save all your receipts for everything you bought out of state last year? WV wants 6% of all your goodies that you thought you saved money by buying over the internet.
:confused: :frown: :headbutt: :fight:

May I wish WV the best of luck in enforcing this tax. I know Ohio has something to the same affect when it comes to internet sales but I don't know if it applies to all out of state purchases. I would think that if I purchased something in Parkersburg and brought it back to Marietta and Ohio tried to hit me with sales tax for said purchase that would qualify as double taxation...?

So, when are they going to start taxing you guys for the air you breathe?

As I get older I just can't seem to remember buying anything on the internet in the last year or two. LOL

<- PA resident, our state only tried to require ebay users to register as state auctioneers.

most of the professional vendors i use on the web.. charge me sales tax..

at the point of purchase.. out of state.. it is called "use tax"
if the state you buy from charges 5% realistically you should make up the 1% to WV ..yes.. i have researched this and it has been a pain. i just pay the sales tax in the state where i buy.. passing on the local wv tax..
i fill out a form every month at work for my "use tax" sometimes it is $ 0 some time it is 30-40 dollars..
i think this will help if i ever get the sales tax audit..

a lot of business are going thru this audit now..

also cities.. like charleston . are going for B& O tax.. on photographers and video guys;

wedding in charleston .. reception in south charleston. they want B&O on the wedding part..

sux.
i pay everything in south charleston .. on my prices.. it says service fee for location in charleston in $ 1
they would get 1/10of a cent for that..

at least i pay it in my city
they are ball busting the guys out of the city limits that don't pay anyone

You can deduct out of state sales tax, so it would not be double taxation.
