Hey guys, i'll be returning to autox in april. I just got myself a new mazdaspeed 3 and im looking at getting the cobb short ram intake and the stage 2 suspension which is just springs and swaybars. I've read through the solo classifications and I think this would put me in STU, but im not for sure. Could anyone comfirm this? Thanks!

Yup, the MS3 goes to STU. Run it stock at least once, tho' - it's a hoot right out of the box!

Oh absolutely. I'll be running stock in april. I probly won't buy anything for it for a few months. I'm thinking when i do mod it i'm only going to get cobb parts and call it a day. I really want the intake so i can hear the turbo though, lol. Just something about being able to hear the woooosh that makes me giggle.

This forge bypass valve I put on it gonna bump me out of STU and into DSP isn't it?

I think it would be CSP, not DSP, under the "all sedans over 1.7L and under 3.0L" catchall, along with the SRT-4. Depends on what "mechanically-forced induction" in the DSP catchall means. It's not specifically listed in either class, regardless.

You could always run SM against Marteen & Co.

So that's what "FBV" means (yes, I just came from the Mazda forum).

No no, I'll stay away from SM thank you, lol. I just found an official document on the classing of the MS3 in the street prepared class after a TON of searching. But anyhow it is DSP. Which makes me happy, lol. I can't believe a simple BPV takes me out of STU. It should not really give any performance boost other than supposedly the stock BPV in the MS3 is usually leaky (from what I hear). But here's the document I found.

So yet again I've signed up for our next event in the wrong class. Also I'm an SCCA member now, I didnt register for the event with my scca number. Do I need to bring my member number with me to the next event for the discount? Not sure if the card will make it in the mail in time.

Son of a gun. I wonder if the SRT-4 will follow shortly? I always thought it was an odd fit in MiataSP, anyway.

I'll get you in the right class when I set the laptop up on Saturday.

I heard rumors that the SRT-4 may in fact be moved to DSP for 2009.

Thanks Johnny, that did the trick. It says member status is active and joined 6-11-08, however it says effective date is 7-01-2008. Does that mean I'm not gonna get the discount this time?

Hmm, I have no idea, somebody else might have to chime in on that

When I first got my license last year it was effective the day I got it and then when I updated it earlier this year it was also effective the same day so I am really not sure

You should be fine for our event, as long as you have a license...maybe they just bumped it up a month due to their policies (ie. starting the membership first of the month or at least that's what they have your card read) but you should be valid as soon as you join AFAIK...
