View Full Version : October Auto-X video...music or no music?? (2 day poll)

Exactly as the title says, do we want music in this video? I'm editing it and I always feel bad doing one or the other because I never know what people actually want. Even though around 1000** people watch these videos each month, you guys are the reason I make them, so I want you to dictate whether or not you want music in it. You probably won't have any say in music choice, just to keep an argument from starting.

**Oddly enough, ATABO.com had 2677 unique visitors (I guess it means different IP addresses?) in September, and 2675 in October. They don't all watch the same videos, though, so that isn't how many people see the new videos each month.

Depends on the tunes. I'd use "With a Car Like That You Must Be Kneedeep in Whores" by Forever Einstein, myself.

Don't worry - it's instrumental.

Oh Troy... the php software we use cannot handle individual users total posts above 1000. So yeah... you'll be banned in like 7 posts.

I know I know we could update... but hey its more fun to ban you.

I am kidding... or am I?

Any of the [no offense] older guys have anything to say?? So far it's all for Music, but that means you don't hear the cars much at all and you don't hear the announcer's wise-cracks.

Troy, whenever there is a wise-crack, just turn the volume down on the music just a bit so we can hear it....that way everybody's happy...

Does that mean I'm not one of the "older guys?" :P

lol...that might take a while, but I may try it. You have to cut the audio track before and after where you want it turned down, then turn down the volume of that small track. It sounds easy, but when you're dealing with as much data as I am in these videos, it may get monotonous. Also, unitl I figure out what caused all the glitches in last month's video, I'm a little scared to mess with stuff. I may try it, though.

If anyone has any songs they'd like to pass my way, I might consider using them, but don't be upset if I don't. You'll probably have to email them to me or something, unless you have some webspace to host them on. My e-mail address is Troy(at)atabo.com.

lol...no, Jon, it just means you have nothing important to say

But seriously, yes, your input helped. Send me that song if you can...

Is it that complicated in your program? Premiere has it sooo easy with things like that...

It's not really complicated, but like I said, the more you do to it, the higher the chance that it will have flaws. I remember one of the videos you guys made that had some stray frames in it, but I dunno if it was on Premiere. There's a lot I don't understand about this Sony program, so maybe things would be easier if they just gave me a halfway informative manual with it.

I like to hear the cars. Is it ready yet ????

Me too and nope. I worked on it for another 2 or 3 hours yesterday, but there's still a good bit to be done, then rendering it takes 4-6 hours, then rendering it again takes about 15 minutes, then uploading takes about an hour and a half. I'm trying to get it done in time for people to see before the event this weekend.

As for classical music, I've tried it in a few experiments, and without slowing down the video and removing all engine sounds, it just doesn't synchronize. This only my opinion of course, but you could always go back watch one of my other videos on mute while you play some classical music with another auxillary program and form your own opinion. I would love to use it, but it just doesn't seem to work well for me.

There's a John Adams piece called "Short Ride in a Fast Machine" that would work, IIRC. Heard a drum corps do it once. The title's right, at least.

I know how it is Troy, with the dropped frames and such....but I don't think that has anything to do with the music, at least in Premiere...
Can't wait to see what you did with the Oct AutoX....

It was rendering when I left for work, so it'll be up in a little while, assuming April helps me out :D

I wish I could block IP Adresses so I could make Jason Norton wait 2 more days for complaining

If you guys can get me these songs so I don't have to try to download them elsewhere, it would be awesome. As said before, I can't guarantee I'll use them, but I'll definitely listen to them.
